The founders of the sorority are Patricia Perez, Maria Alcocer, and Evelyn Greenfield. The decision date to organize Mu Epsilon Theta was October 21, 1986. This was the Alpha Class of the Alpha Chapter. Mu Epsilon Theta was founded as a local sorority. On January 16, 1987, The University of Texas at Austin officially recognized Mu Epsilon Theta Sorority as an official UT Organization.
